Tamaya Cafe serves a variety of tempting treats, but the star of the show is undoubtedly their enticing kakigori (shaved ice) offerings. As noted by many delighted patrons, the strawberry milk kakigori is a standout dish, offering a deliciously balanced sweetness that doesn’t overpower the palate. One guest, Satoko, describes it as delightful, noting its perfect harmony with the fresh whipped cream. If you’re in the mood for something more decadent, they also boast a selection of eye-catching pancakes that, while on the pricier side, are praised for their light fluffiness and satisfying flavors.

If you find yourself exploring Imabari during the warmer months, the kakigori is a must-try! Reviewers like なべ attest to the cafe's extensive dessert menu, remarking on the rich, moist cakes that stand alongside the refreshing icy treats. This is one of the more modern-feeling cafes in Imabari, in a location where it doesn’t have too much competition. Staff are generally very friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed. It seems to be a popular place for students from the nearby schools, who can often be seen doing their homework or refreshing themselves after sports practice. The pancakes here are good if a little expensive, with an eggier taste than some might be used to. Kakigori is their specialty, with a wide assortment of flavours and toppings available. It’s not the cheapest kakigori you’ll find, but you get a good amount - easily enough for two people to share one. I’ve had the green tea one, which was nice enough, and the strawberry, which was a bit too sweet for my tastes. There are various other meals and cakes in the menu, but nothing substantial for vegetarians. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax with a coffee in this part of town, Tamaya Cafe is definitely a very good option, but there are better cafes elsewhere in Imabari.
